Conventional Cataract Surgery

With single-vision lens implants, there is a likelihood that you will need glasses for most near vision activities after your surgery and you will have additional replacement cost of glasses through the years. Medicare and most private insurance carriers will pay the majority of your cataract surgery and the cost of the lens implant.

Advanced Technology ReZoom® Cataract Surgery

The ReZoom® implant is designed to improve your vision to see near, far and everything in between. The goal of the ReZoom® lens surgery is to allow you to read the newspaper, prescription bottle, your wristwatch, cell phone and to see many other things near and far without glasses. Medicare and most insurance companies will cover a large portion of the overall surgery costs as they do with conventional cataract surgery; however they consider the portion of the surgery which utilizes the ReZoom® lens to improve the near visual function as an “elective” component and as a result patients have an out of pocket expense for this portion of the procedure of $1600 per eye.

Advanced Technology Acrysof® Toric (Corrects Astigmatism)

TheAcrysof® Toric lens is a custom ordered lens that is specifically designed for those patients who have a significant amount of astigmatism. In years past, cataract surgery removed the cataract but a patient still required usually expensive glasses for near and distance vision. The design of the Acrysof® Toric implant makes it possible to reduce or eliminate corneal astigmatism and significantly improve distance vision, independent of eyeglasses and contact lenses. At this point, insurance companies do not cover the cost of the lens implant. There is an out of pocket expense for this lens implant of $900 per eye.
